Cloud4Wi allows you to verify the identity of an end-user by sending a temporary verification code. This feature is fully supported across both Username/Password and Click-Through sign-up flows.
Configuration and Setup
To enable this feature, navigate to Guest Wi-Fi → Setup → Login Profiles and select your active template. In the Advanced tab of your login profile, set the Account validation mode to "Validation code via text message".
Core Behavior and Mandatory Fields
Once code-based validation is enabled, the platform automatically applies the following logic to the Splash Page:
Enforced Phone Number: Regardless of whether you deploy a Click-Through access flow or a standard User Account registration, and independently of any other registration fields you have configured, the Phone Number field is automatically enforced as a mandatory requirement. The end-user must provide a phone number to trigger the SMS delivery.
Social Login Exclusion: This specific validation flow does not apply to users authenticating via Social Login options.
User Experience and Flow Logic
When an guest connects to the network, the verification gatekeeping sequence operates as follows:
Form Submission: The user fills out the required fields on the Splash Page, ensuring they enter their phone number.
Code Delivery: After the registration process on the Splash Page is submitted, Cloud4Wi transmits an SMS containing the validation code to the user's mobile device, and the interface opens the validation form.
Verification:
If the user enters the correct code, the validation process is completed, and they are granted full access to the Internet.
If the user enters an incorrect code, the Splash Page displays an "invalid code" error, allowing them to type it again.
Critical Anti-Abuse and Resend Rules
To protect your SMS gateway balance from spam, malicious abuse, or unnecessary credit drain, the platform enforces strict session constraints:
Resend Limits: If the text message does not arrive, the user can click "Send the code again". To prevent flooding, this action is locked and cannot be clicked more than once per session.
Interrupted or Closed Windows: If a user closes the browser window or accidentally shuts down the registration interface before entering the code, the system handles their return with specific safeguards:
The next time the Splash Page is opened, they will be prompted to re-enter their phone number to be redirected back to the code validation form.
The Anti-Waste Rule: Upon return, the system will not automatically generate or send a new SMS. This prevents wasting your text message credits if the user still has the first code sitting in their phone's inbox. If they have truly lost or deleted the original message, they must manually click "Send the code again" to fetch a new one.
