Note: We are transitioning our terminology from Internet Plans to Time Policies. You may see both terms used interchangeably while we gradually update our documentation.
Time Policies can be created and managed by the Organization or Location Manager, depending on your account setup and delegation privileges. A Time Policy must be assigned to an end-user profile for that user to access the Internet.
When creating a new Time Policy, you will need to configure the following fields. You can modify these settings at any time.
General Settings
Name: The administrative title of the Time Policy.
Description: A short internal summary of the policy's purpose.
Status: Controls availability. A Disabled policy cannot be assigned or used by end-users.
Type: Defines the policy lifecycle:
Recurring: Automatically renews based on a set frequency.
One-time: Valid for a single, limited timeframe.
Provisioning & Visibility
The Self-provisioning toggle determines how end-users interact with the Time Policy on the Splash Page.
If Self-provisioning is set to No:
The policy is hidden from the Splash Page, free of charge, and does not require an access code. It can only be assigned manually or via Auto-Provisioning.
If Self-provisioning is set to Yes:
The policy becomes public, unlocking the following conditional configuration options:
Publish on the Splash Page: Select whether this policy appears in the list of choices available to end-users during self-registration.
Access code: If enabled, authenticated end-users must enter a specific activation code before accessing the service.
Service model: Defines whether the policy is Free-of-charge or Paid.
Price: (Visible only if Paid is selected) Specifies the purchase price for the policy.
Service Parameters
These parameters govern navigation limits and validity periods. The available options adapt based on the Type selected above.
For Recurring Profiles:
Allocate time: The total browsing duration allowed per cycle. Once consumed, network access is paused until the profile automatically renews.
Renewal frequency: How often the allowed browsing time resets (e.g., daily, weekly).
Validate: A specific calendar date interval (Start Date to End Date) during which the policy is active. Outside this interval, the policy cannot be used.
For One-Time Profiles:
Allocate Time: The total browsing duration allowed. After this time is spent, the policy permanently expires.
Tracking Method: Select how the system measures the allocated time:
Consumption-based (Unchecked Expiration): The user can consume their time across multiple, non-contiguous sessions. The timer only ticks while the user is actively browsing.
Expiration-based (Checked Expiration): The policy duration starts counting down inevitably from the exact moment of the first login, regardless of active usage.
Additional Setting (All Profile Types):
Force Time-Out: Automatically disconnects an end-user session after a specified period of inactivity or absolute time. Note: This setting will not override or increase the remaining time inherited from the policy itself.
Advanced Parameters (QoS)
By clicking Advanced Parameters at the bottom of the page (enabled upon request), you can configure dedicated bandwidth limitations (Upload/Download limits) for users assigned to this policy.
Recommendation: In most standard deployments, these fields do not require modification. We recommend leaving them at their default values unless specific quality-of-service (QoS) adjustments are required by your network administrator.
