Note: We are transitioning our terminology from Internet Plans to Time Policies. You may see both terms used interchangeably while we gradually update our documentation.
Access Codes are unique PINs that end-users require to activate specific Time Policies. If an active Time Policy is configured to require an access code, new users will be prompted to enter it on the Splash Page before they can gain Internet access.
Access codes can be created and managed by either the Organization Manager or the Location Manager, depending on account setup and delegation privileges. Codes must be generated individually for each Time Policy that requires them.
Generating and Managing Access Codes
To manage codes, navigate to the specific Location and open the Time Policies section. Next to each policy that requires an access code, an indicator displays the number of available PINs currently left. Clicking this indicator opens the Access Code Management interface, which offers the following actions:
Add (Create New Codes): Allows you to generate a new batch of codes by defining the following parameters:
Number: The total quantity of access codes to be generated in this batch.
Expiration date: An optional field to set a date after which these codes can no longer be used for activation.
Export: Downloads the list of all generated codes into a CSV or PDF file.
History: Displays a list of all successfully activated codes.
Search: Allows you to quickly look up a specific code by entering its characters.
For every generated code, the management table displays its Code string, Status (Active / Inactive), Creation date, and Expiration date.
Provisioning Methods with Access Codes
Cloud4Wi offers different workflows to control how access codes are requested on the Splash Page:
Auto-Provisioning with Access Code
With this method, new end-users are automatically assigned the Default Time Policy set for the Location. However, if that default policy requires an access code, the Splash Page will prompt them to enter it before granting internet access.
Access Workflow: Users can obtain the code directly from the Location staff. Alternatively, the Location Manager can manually authorize the user's session from the Users section of the Cloud4Wi Dashboard. This mode supports all registration methods, including Social Login and Click-Through.
Self-Provisioning with Access Code
This workflow applies when a Location does not have a Default Time Policy assigned. Upon their first login, users are redirected to a selection page showcasing all available Time Policies. Once the user chooses a policy, they must provide the corresponding access code assigned to that specific policy (which they may purchase or receive from the Location staff). For registered end-users, access can also be manually enabled from the Cloud4Wi Dashboard by the Organization or Location Manager.
